British Essentials Will Replace Super Models with Real Women: Decision Final

The British “Essentials” got tired of glossy, unnaturally looking super models and celebrities and decided to replace them with real every day women. In fact, the magazine stated that its readers speak out against widely publicized beauty standards that almost nobody can meet. As a result, October cover of “Essentials” will feature 10 regular British women that will also appear on the pages of the issue. But it seems like the (somewhat) innovative idea goes beyond October issue of the magazine. According to the “Essentials” editorial team, their cover will belong to regular women from now on. The blogosphere reacted to the news quite interestingly: while mostly being supportive of the press acceptance of the real world, some bloggers and readers aired concern. It turns out that there is a portion of population that enjoys seeing super perfect celebs on magazine covers simply because they feel motivated by “glossy looks”. I guess, there is some truth to it: my magazine cover keeps me away from the fridge once in a while… What do you think?

It’s Official: Fashion and Web 2.0 Got Engaged… in Cannes

Fashion.Maga-Zine.com has always been the biggest fan of web 2.0 and served fashion on a “bed of technology” encouraging social interaction and growth of online fashion fan base. For this reason, recent events in Cannes have a special meaning to us. It turns out that Cannes recently celebrated the birth of Style Star, “a revolutionary new tool for creating immersive interactive experiences for consumers in both the real and virtual worlds”.

See All Photos of Celebs at Cannes Style Star Night 2010

The official press release says: “Designed to generate greater brand visibility, attract existing and new customers, foster immediate consumer interaction, increase sales and boost customer loyalty, the Style Star web channel hosted by MSN melds the worlds of fashion and film, amplifying the reach of the fashion and luxury industry’s promotional efforts and short film production while showcasing Microsoft’s leadership in global retail information technology solutions. This concept was first previewed in September 2009 at the 66th Venice Film Festival and Milan Fashion Week.”

According to Marina Garzoni, president and founder of Moda e Tecnologia, and Andrey Golub, partner and CTO of the organization, “Style Star is much more than a web site or an e-commerce platform. It is an integrated set of products and advanced technologies that combine quality content from multiple sources with a next generation e-Style Star shopping platform for a rich 2.0 user experience. It puts brands directly in touch with consumers, enabling retailers in fashion and other industries to drive brand experience and loyalty, coordinate social networking, and gain feedback and market insights through real-time and virtual participation. This one-to-one customer relationship will enable clients to customize their products and meet the needs of those global industries in which the customer is increasingly in control.”

Atlanta 19th Hole Magazine Gives Back: “Driven to Luxury” fore Charity Event

“Giving back is always in fashion!” - confidently states Ian Paul Lawrence, the founder and publisher of The 19th Hole Magazine, in an interview with Fashion.Maga-Zine.com. According to Ian, charity and support of less fortunate ones was the main motivation behind “Driven to Luxury”, a program and event series designed to help raise funds and awareness to benefit non-profit charity organizations. Among those benefiting from this fashionable program are The Atlanta Children’s Shelter, The First Tee of East Lake, Future Seekers Organization, Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company, Shepherd Center Foundation and Voss Foundation. “The phrase giving back is always in style, is more than just a cover blurb for The 19th Hole Magazine. It goes to the heart of what living a meaningful life is all about,” said Lawrence.

The program begins with Golf Chic fashion show in LOEWS Atlanta Hotel on September 22, 2010. The show will predominantly feature Brooks Brothers golf fashions. Of course, the show does not end at Brooks Brothers designs but we will keep the list of participating brands confidential to surprise all visitors with an excellent line up secured for the event. The fashion show is also a great networking opportunity and of course, a fund raiser with donation opportunities open to all attendees. Even though Golf Chic fashion show is by invitation only, Mr. Lawrence encouraged Fashion.Maga-Zine.com readers to contribute to the good cause by visiting The 19th Hole Magazine website and subscribing for the publication. Part of the subscription fee is going towards the above mentioned charity projects.

As a Chief Editor of a fashion magazine first of all, I could not help asking about Ian’s take on golf fashion 2011. Mr. Lawrence did not hesitate to recommend functional but glamorous golf clothing for women. “Women’s golf outfits could use more stylish accessories in 2011” - he says. For men Mr. Lawrence suggested bold colors accessorized with belts, especially white belts with big buckles. I will definitely take a note of these fashion tips just in case a golf game is on Fashion.Maga-Zine’s schedule in 2011!

There is nothing wrong with that. However, if your addicted to fashion mind craves freedom of imagination, unorthodox ideas and out of this world craziness, consider checking out the Concept Show at the Oxford Fashion Week.
It is not a coincidence that Dree Hemingway proudly displays her name in the ad campaign 2010 by Louis Vuitton. Dree Hemingway is a great granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, the famous writer and the canonical figure of the American literature. The 2010 photo shoot took place in Africa and Louis Vuitton got a chance to advertise their goods in many promotional shoots with Dree showing off the exotic nature of Africa and the adventurous nature of Louis Vuitton. All in all, the campaign theme is great and the characters are timeless just like Louis Vuitton itself.

Jennifer Behr Hair Accessories and Belts: High Fashion in Details

Jennifer Behr is our most recent discovery and an object of interest: a line of sophisticated hair accessories and belts for fashionable occasions and bridal masterpieces. Simple and clean lines, basic colors and classic patterns are skillfully combined into accessories that speak the language of high fashion. I especially like how the designer is using simple elements like chain links and sailor knots in these accessories creating very natural and chic looks. Jennifer Behr accessory line primarily consists of headwraps, bobby pins and belts decorated with crystals and pearls. Some of the bridal pieces feature leather, silk and feathers that all are a fantastic addition to sophisticated classic wedding looks. There is definitely a lot of chic in Behr accessories and they are worth checking out. Going forward, we would love to see this brand expand the selection of items. The potential is definitely there and who knows: maybe Jennifer Behr is the next Coco Chanel who started with fabulous hats and conquered the world!

“Passion for Fashion” is undoubtedly a slogan of Fashion.Maga-Zine.com but there is some news that cuts the edge of believable for us as well. A few brands and stars made the cut this year and we would like to start with Marc Jacobs and his provocative fragrance Bang. Obviously, the famous designer decided to go naked for the fragrance ad for the lack of appropriate clothing. Yes, Marc Jacobs admitted that the stylists tried shooting him in this and that and nothing worked well, so he went for a naked and oiled look instead.

Beyonce, on the other hand, did not experience shortage of ideas and advertised the fall Dereon collection as a mix of Lady Gaga, Rhianna and Merylin Monroe. She went totally blond for the photoshoot, spotted a number of tattoos and the 60-s pinup style. Not much to imagine after that…

And of course Victoria’s Secret. What scandalous fashion news can happen without the angels? Victoria’s Secret presented another bra that no woman can live without: Incredible Bra by Victoria’s Secret gives you volume and push up for the look that can be compared to surgery results. Decide for yourself if you have an extra buck to spend at Victoria’s Secret this season…. or should you just save the money after all?

Have you ever had a desire to stay home, hide under a warm blanket and drink hot tea or coffee in front of a TV on a rainy fall day? While it might not sound attractive in the middle of a brutally hot summer, it happens once in a while to the best of us in fall. This is what I call “a day for me”. It is the day when one wants to enjoy simple pleasures and wear comfy jeans and sweaters with minimal makeup. Luckily, brands like H&M allow fashionistas to look stylish even on the laziest days of our lives. H&M came out with a very simple and comfy fashion collection for fall/winter 2010/2011. The collection suggests a wide variety of outfits of soft wool, cotton and suede. It includes cuddly pullovers, classic jeans, stylish cotton shirts and playful skirts. Women’s outfits advertised by Daria Werbowy, the gorgeous Polish Canadian model, look simply beautiful. But most importantly, they make the thought of a rainy fall rather attractive! This is the true value of fashion: not just make us look stylish but elevate us every day regardless of politics, economy, personal troubles and… even the weather.

H&M fashions are now available in Atlanta and throughout USA.

Hermes fashion collection for women fall/winter 2010/2011 offers a variety of very elegant clutches in black, gray, brown, tan and orange leather. Some of the new tiny Hermes handbags are available in shiny leather of these colors as well. The key in fall 2010 is to match your clutch and your outfit by color and texture to stress the elegant nature of the look. Hermes models walked the runway carrying the clutches in hand or putting them on the handle of a matching umbrella: a little snobbish but with a statement. Stylish leather gloves and boots added even more chic to Hermes fall looks.

Even if you do not own a Hermes clutch, umbrella or gloves, this fashion show brings a few ideas about the ways to refresh your style in the coming fall.

Futuristic Fashion Photography by Jacob Sadrak: Cold Metal in Mexico

Jacob Sadrak is a mysterious Mexican photographer who created quite a bit of buzz online. I am saying “mysterious” because we were not able to find any information about the photographer and his career to share with our readers but his work is so impressive that we simply had to mention his name. His futuristic fashion photos of model Lizi from Paragon Models agency strike with the unusual look that might surprise even Lady Gaga. Futuristic style is creative and unorthodox by its nature - that’s exactly why it is such a perfect choice for self expression and artistic creativity. Jacob Sadrak was able to take advantage of futurism to the fullest while shooting Lizi in what looks like a metal/leather outfit with dark futuristic makeup. If you are a fan of futurism or simply strong creative self expression, definitely check out Jacob Sadrak and this photo set.

CPH Kids’ first fair took place in February this year with great success and favorable support from the Danish children’s fashion branch. Now even more brands have chosen to join the fair. Mads Norgaard kids og LITTLE REMIX are amongst the new exhibitors.

“From the beginning, our ambition has been to create a new space for creative interchange between all participants in the Kids’ Fashion Industry. We succeeded in February and now our expectations are even higher. We have a 5,000 square meter area and all stalls were booked a long time ago”- says Lone Holm, director of CPH Kids.

New Horizons

In August, CPH kids launches a number of new partnerships. International children’s fashion magazines, photographers from all over the world and a number of inspiring guest speakers will be among the new elements at the fair. This time CPH kids is going to focus even more on their charity event. Last year, the exhibitors sold children’s clothing to raise money for Haitian earthquake victims. For this fair, CPH kids cooperates with Bornehjalpsdagen, who fights for children’s rights in Denmark.

Haute.lanta Fashion Week®, The Official Fashion Week of Atlanta is back in its fourth year infusing the best in fashion, beauty, and art with a host of style makers, fashion elite, and trendsetters. Keeping in line with previous years, Haute.lanta Fashion Week®, promotes fashion with compassion as an impressive line-up of international designers will showcase couture, avant-garde, and pret-a-porter collections for the benefit of RISE (Resources for Independence, Self-Sufficiency & Education), an up and coming nonprofit organization that supports economically disadvantaged women who are entering or re-entering the workforce. RISE provides the tools to help women become self-sufficient through an effective and comprehensive program that focuses on personal and professional development while elevating self-image and esteem.

Published for the second year in McGraw Hill’s, 2010 and 2011, Chase’s Calendar of Events (mhprofessional.com), the most comprehensive and authoritative reference available on special events, worldwide holidays, civic observances, and historic anniversaries, Haute.lanta Fashion Week® is published internationally as Atlanta’s official Fashion Week. Since it’s original debut, the overwhelming success of the event has sparked a series of event knockoffs, in which HLFW is challenging the local design community to support the ongoing effort to eliminate this behavior within the industry. Although fashion can be a repetition of ideas, “Fakes are never in Fashion.” Log on to fakesareneverinfashion.com to support this cause.

With all of its fabulousness, HLFW, in partnership with Green Opportunities for Urban Neighborhoods, has officially gone green.
My First Designer Dress Made of Daddy’s Shirt: Green Fashion for Girls

Adrian Coville, a fashion designer from London, and his partner Malin Wallenberg are relatively new to the scene of kids’ fashion. But the concept of their company Cuter&Cuter cannot leave anyone indifferent: they are designing unique dresses for girls made of a daddy’s old shirt. This interesting concept is amazingly simple: order a dress for your daughter online, send in one of her daddy’s old shirts and get a couture piece, French seamed, fully lined with silk and decorated with Swarovski crystals. Such a heritage dress is one-of-a-kind and is not cheap but the value of it is priceless.

“As a little girl I used my father’s shirt as a security blanket and a reminder of him. Nearly forty years later I can still feel his presence when I think of that shirt. The white one with tiny blue bicycles on it. The comfort of my father’s shirt is still in my heart.” - says Malin Wallenberg, the Chairman of Cuter & Cuter. In addition, every dress is environmentally friendly as the concept is based on recycling. To check out these adorable designs for girls visit cuterandcuter.com. While the company is located in Switzerland, the family ties reinforced by their fashion are close to everyone in the world.

Gianfranco Ferre is another iconic name of Italian fashion and the world fashion in general. The brand inherited the name of its founder Gianfranco Ferre who started his couture career in 1970 by designing accessories. The designer Gianfranco Ferre was honored by the title of the Best Italian Designer six times in his lifetime and won many other prestigious fashion awards. After the couturier’s death in 2007 his company continues celebrating style with fantastic designs for men and women. For 2011 Gianfranco Ferre suggests very elegant long evening gowns for special occasions in black and tan. Decorated with wide shiny gold and black stripes, these dresses repeat the contours of a female body and flow with every movement. Such a simple but classy solution for special occasions and cocktail parties in 2011.

Olivia Palermo for Asos Magazine Fall Winter 2011: Beautiful Woman and Even Better Fashion

While Fashion.Maga-Zine.com is not a vivid fan of reality shows and their stars for the lack of art and talent in many cases (not all), we had to notice Olivia Palermo (a socialite, model and actress from the reality television show The City) and her recent work for Asos fall/winter 2011 magazine issue. Olivia did a great job advertising Asos designs suggested for the upcoming fall/winter season. Fashion.Maga-Zine.com reviewed Asos fashion a few times before impressed by its ability to provide modern women of all ages with unique stylish clothing for any occasion. Asos did not disappoint in fall/winter 2011: shorts with coats, dresses with sports shoes and soft hats - everything about Asos fashion is stylish and comfortable allowing every day fashion to gracefully translate into femininity. But most importantly, Asos fall/winter 2011 styles are quite affordable that is a factor in today’s economy. Their fashion items start at $50 and go up. As for Olivia Palermo, she truly did a great job modeling Asos items and proved that her talents go beyond a reality show.
